๐Ÿซ€Lean On Us

This is an ACTIVE club for 2023-2024.

What is this club about?

The Lean On Us club is a chapter of the larger organization, the Lean On Us Foundation. We have received authorization from the non=profit to start a chapter here. The goal of starting this club is to raise awareness of cognitive diseases such as Alzheimerโ€™s, Parkinsonโ€™s and Dementia, to name a few. These are mainly present in the elderly due to degradation of the nervous systemโ€™s function over time and so we would be doing most of our volunteer work in senior homes or in partnership with organizations such as the Parkinsonโ€™s Foundation. With such partnerships we hope to not only raise awareness for this issue, but also run fundraisers to donate to research efforts that will help find ways to help patients with these diseases. However, a big part of what makes our club unique compared to another volunteering club or another neuroscience club is that we are a combination of the two in the best way. We will be focusing our efforts on teaching our club members about these diseases first and what kind of detrimental effects they have on people as well as what is currently being done to help these people. We hope to not only involve our club members in as many volunteering events as we can but to also foster a passion and interest to know more through our research and passion for this topic. While the foundation focuses primarily on three main cognitive diseases, we plan to teach about even more diseases that may not be as common and ones that may be more prevalent in younger people. Through our work and research as officers we plan to spread an interest in the field of neuroscience and cognitive function as well as help to expand the spectrum of focus for the foundation itself, so we can represent a bigger movement towards helping those with any type of cognitive disease.

I want to escalate something. How do I contact the Club Council?

The Club Council is a central body governing the operations of all clubs on campus. They are not involved with the specifics of the club, as that responsibility is shared by the club officers.
